Lingampalli Himaja of Shri Vishnu Engineering College for Women has been named the India National Winner of the James Dyson Award 2026 for RUDHRA, a voice-enabled Braille printer that converts spoken words into Braille. Developed to help visually impaired individuals create Braille documents independently, RUDHRA uses voice commands, Alexa, Raspberry Pi and an embossing mechanism to automatically generate reverse Braille patterns. Himaja will receive approximately INR 6 lakh (£5,000) as the national winner.
Anvika Shetty from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, was named the 1st Runner-up for ViabilityX, a passive organ preservation and transport system that maintains organs at 4–8°C without electricity, batteries or ice. Shakeel Akthar S from Anna University was named the 2nd Runner-up for Trike 2π, a compact three-wheeled electric patrol vehicle designed to improve manoeuvrability, reduce patrol fatigue and support security operations in confined pedestrian environments.
All three winning inventions — RUDHRA, ViabilityX and Trike 2π — will represent India in the international stage of the James Dyson Award 2026. The final international winners will be selected by Sir James Dyson himself.
