KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar visited the ‘State Level Exhibition of KVI Products’ at Sasthri Ground, Coimbatore. As a part of the Exhibition, KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar inaugurated a mega Khadi Fashion Show at PSG College of Arts & Science in Coimbatore, where college students from 10 colleges showcased their designs using Khadi fabrics.


Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, visited Coimbatore on January 3, 2025, to attend the State Level Exhibition of KVI Products at Sasthri Ground. This exhibition, showcasing the best of Khadi and Village Industries Products, is being held from December 27, 2024, to January 05, 2025.


On this occasion, as part of the State Level Exhibition, Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar inaugurated a mega Khadi Fashion Show at PSG College of Arts & Science in Coimbatore on January 03, 2025. Students from 10 colleges, currently pursuing courses in costume and fashion designing at various levels, showcased creative designs made from Khadi fabric, highlighting the versatility and elegance of Khadi in modern fashion.


Shri Manoj Kumar also highlighted the significant progress made by KVIC in Tamil Nadu, where KVIC is actively promoting Khadi through several programmes. He informed the gathering that Khadi Institutions in Tamil Nadu are being provided with financial support under various schemes, including MMDA, ISEC, Strengthening of Infrastructure, SFURTI, etc.


Shri Manoj Kumar stated that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Khadi sector has witnessed remarkable growth. Khadi and Village Industries have surpassed the Rs. 1.55 Lakh Crore mark, with this unprecedented progress also reflected in job creation, generating over 10.17 Lakh new jobs in the sector. In Tamil Nadu alone, Khadi production reached Rs. 224.12 Crore, while sales Rs. 397.63 Crore in the financial year 2023-24. He emphasised the significant role played by Khadi artisans in nation-building and highlighted the continuing development of Khadi in India, driven by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modis vision for a self-reliant India.


The program was attended by a distinguished group of guests, including representatives from local Khadi Institutions, PMEGP Entrepreneurs, Khadi Artisans, Officers and Employees of KVIC and other dignitaries.
