Tamil Nadu Athletes Shine in International Karate Championship

Tamil Nadu athletes achieved remarkable success at the International Karate Championship held at the Indoor Stadium in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, where they represented India.


A total of 13 athletes from Tamil Nadu, including 9 male and 4 female competitors, participated in three categories: Kata, Kumite, and Team Kata.


The Indian team secured an overall second place in the World Championship by winning:

17 Gold Medals

16 Silver Medals

13 Bronze Medals


Sri Lanka claimed the first position, while Bangladesh and Nepal secured third and fourth places, respectively.


The Tamil Nadu team was trained and led by Sheehan Rajasekar, General Secretary of ISKF Tamil Nadu, a national referee, and a coach. Sheehan Lallu, National Secretary of ISKF, congratulated the victorious athletes.


Following their achievement, the winning athletes met Minister K. N. Nehru, who extended his congratulations to them.
