The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Puducherry celebrated a significant milestone yesterday with the commemoration of its 15th Foundation Day and the inauguration of multiple new facilities including Staff Quarters, CORE Laboratory, and Gyanith'25.
Shri. (Dr.) Sukanta Majumdar, Hon'ble Minister of State for Education, Government of India, the chief guest of the event inaugurated the state-of-the-art facilities and commended NIT Puducherry's contribution to technical education. In his address, he emphasized the institution's role in advancing India's educational landscape and preparing students for future technological challenges.
The inaugurated residential facilities include 48 Type IV quarters built at a cost of Rs 23 crores and 22 Type III quarters with an investment of Rs 7 crores, providing comfortable accommodation for faculty and staff. The CORE Laboratory is established with a budget of Rs 1.9 crores, will serve as a cutting-edge research facility for students and faculty.
Dr. Makarand Madhao Ghangrekar, Director presented a comprehensive overview of the institution's 15 years of growth and achievements and future vision during his presidential address. Dr. Sundaravarathan S, Registrar NITPY welcomed the guests and coordinated the proceedings throughout the event.
Shri. PRN Thirumurugan, Hon'ble Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Government of Puducherry, the Guest of Honour, highlighted the institution's significant impact on regional development. The event was further enriched by the guest of honor’s Smt. C. Chandira Priyanga, MLA from Nedungadu Constituency and Former Director of NIT Puducherry Dr. K. Sankaranarayanasamy.
The ceremony included the unveiling of the institute's technical fest Gyanith'25. Dr. V. Dillibabu, Scientist-F, Kaveri Aero Engine GTRE, DRDO, Government of India presented the inaugural address of Gyanith'25 and shared insights on technological innovations and their importance in national development.
A key highlight of the celebration was the presentation of Best Researcher Recognition Awards for Dr. N. Sendhil Kumar, Dr. Mahapatra G S, Dr. M V A Raju Bahubalendruni, Dr. Govindaraj V and Dr. Lakshmi Sutha G, acknowledging outstanding contributions to academic research. The event also featured the release of the Gyanith Book of Abstract, Alumni Card, and the launch of the Brain Bios Website.
The event was attended by distinguished officials including Shri. Soma Sekhar Apparao, IAS, District Collector and District Magistrate, and Ms. MVNV Lakshmi Soujanya, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Karaikal.
