A delegation of 45 students of diverse higher education institutions such as, Arignar Anna Arts And Science Government College, Dr. S R K Government Arts College, Yanam, Kanchi Mamunivar Centre For Post Graduate Studies And Research, National Institute Of Technology Puducherry,Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College Of Agriculture And Research Institute, Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Govt Arts College, Puducherry Technological University, sri manakula vinayagar engineering college from Puducherry today departed for NIT Durgapur, West Bengal as a part of the second phase of the government’s ambitious cultural and educational endeavor the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam’ program. NIT Puducherry is the nodal institute for this trip. Dr. Ram Jethmalani, NSS officer, NIT Puducherry is the nodal officer for this tour.
The delegate members will reach NIT Durgapur on 5th May and will stay there till 11th May to understand the culture and traditions of the region. 4 faculty members Ram Jethmalani, Sadheesh Kumar, Anoosha and Jeyasudha from NITPY are also travelling with them.
The delegation was flagged at a glittering ceremony by Mr. A. KULOTHUNGAN I.A.S District Collector and District Magistrate in presence of Dr. K. Sankaranarayanasamy, Director, NITPY and Dr.S. Sundaravarathan, Registrar, NITPY. Hon’ble Minister of State for Education (Dr. Subhas Sarkar) has given his kind consent for being the Chief Guest Yuva Sangam inauguration at NIT Durgapur on 5th May 2023, the day the students will arrive in the state.
Through this visit, the emphasis will be on increasing the exchange of rich cultural and traditional and exchange of ideas between the two states. The students will be visiting Kolkata to meet the Governor at Raj Bhavan along with a sightseeing trip of the state capital. This will be followed by a visit to Bishnupur and Bankura Dokra Art & Craft Village, where they will interact with the local artisans, understand the culture and history, and also go to the Durgapur Steel Plant, Shantiniketan and Barrage sunset point. The itinerary also includes an interaction with the VC of Viswa Bharti, followed by a trip to UBA Adopted Village Pratappur and interaction with the locals there and will conclude with a cultural program.
A brainchild of Ministry of Education, Yuva Sangam’ Youth Exchange program under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat aims to strengthen people-to-people connections, especially between youth of different states and introduce to them the culture and values of India.
It also aims to expose youth who embody not just immense talent, global knowledge, spirit of creativity and innovation but also revisit cultural values that reflect the country’s humane philosophy. This initiative was launched in February this year and the first phase of Yuva Sangam had an overwhelming participation of 1200 youngsters, with the first batch visiting northeast India.
