Whereas, the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad is the global organization that adopts Integrated genetic and natural resources management as its overarching research strategy. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore and International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, Hyderabad for facilitating Postgraduate Students’ Research.
Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, Coimbatore and Dr.Jacqueline d’Arros Hughes, Director General, ICRISAT, Hyderabad signed the agreement on 30.06.2023(Friday) for opening up new avenues in post graduate research and training. Dr.N.Senthil, Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies, TNAU, Coimbatore detailed the significance of this particular collaboration that ‘the development of resistant pigeon pea cultivars through advanced techniques and the understanding of plant-insect interactions can significantly contribute to the management of the pod borer complex. This approach can reduce the reliance on insecticides, mitigate yield losses, and promote sustainable agriculture practices’.
