Amazon India introduces slew of initiatives to make online selling easier for sellers

Amazon is committed to making the festive season successful for sellers in Tamil Nadu and across India. As part of this commitment, Amazon has announced a number of initiatives, including a 50% waiver on referral fees for new sellers joining Amazon.in between 27 Aug- 4 Nov 2023. 

This waiver is valid for 60 days from the date of joining and aims to incentivize new sellers, help them build a customer base and establish a foothold in the competitive e-commerce market by reducing upfront costs. Amazon.in also announced the “Great Indian Referral Offer” where sellers can refer their friends to sell on Amazon.in and receive Rewards worth up to INR 11,500/-. Referrals made between September 28th and October 27th, 2023 will be eligible for rewards.

In addition, Amazon has introduced technological initiatives to make online selling easier and more successful for sellers. These initiatives include Simplified Registration Process which makes it easy for Indian sellers to start selling online. Recently, Amazon.in also announced multi-channel fulfilment which democratizes customer order fulfilment and enables sellers to expand their reach by leveraging Amazon delivery network serving 100% of India’s serviceable pin-codes. With MCF, sellers can leverage Amazon’s fulfilment capabilities to pick, pack and ship products to the customer from the sellers’ inventory in Amazon fulfilment centers.

Amazon has made significant investments in Tamil Nadu over the years. Amazon.in has close to 90,000 sellers from Tamil Nadu selling a wide variety of products, and hundreds of thousands of small sellers have embraced e-commerce through Amazon's programs and tools. In addition to its offices, Amazon has invested in setting up 5 fulfilment centres in Tamil Nadu across Chennai and Coimbatore, offering more than 3 million cubic feet of storage space.In 2021, Amazon set up its first devices manufacturing unit in India in the state of Tamil Nadu in Chennai. These investments in infrastructure have helped generate thousands of jobs in the state.
