Regency Ceramics Limited, a pioneer in the Indian tiles industry, has undertaken a substantial effort to plant 3,000 fruit bearing saplings across Yanam, aligning with the goals of the Puducherry Pollution Control Committee (PPCC).   While the Union Territory of Puducherry currently maintains a green forest cover of 10.8%, satellite imagery has revealed a consistent decline in this green cover since 1986.

In support of PPCC's strategy to double the forest cover in the next five years, Regency Ceramics has pledged its support to implement the ‘Puducherry Green Mission’ initiative within the territory. G. Srinivas Ashok, MLA of Yanam, officially launched the green campaign in an event held at the premises of Regency factory at Yanam on 22nd January. The Regional Administrative Officer of Yanam, R. Mounisamy and in-charge Municipal Commissioner, Mr. K. Ramakrishna also participated.

This tree-planting campaign underscores Regency's dedication to revitalizing the ecological well-being of Yanam. Mr. Satyendra Prasad Narala, Managing Director of Regency Ceramics Ltd, commented on the afforestation drive, stating, "Regency Ceramics has always been committed to upholding the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) charter. As part of our contribution to improve the green cover, we are partnering with PPCC, Department of Science, Technology & Environment (DSTE), Govt of Puducherry to plant 3000 saplings across Yanam.”

Regency's afforestation initiative involves the distribution of native fruit trees like Jackfruit, Custard apple, Jamun, Guava, and Amla as well as avenue trees like Mahagony, Gulmohar, Rosy Trumpet, Yellow Flame tree and Crepe Myrtle. Regency Ceramics is dedicated to revitalizing the local economy through the resumption of operations in Yanam, fostering job creation and contributing to the region's economic development.
