Swami Vivekananda Studies Centre of Vivekananda college celebrated 161th - Swami Vivekananda Birth Day as National Youth Day on 12th January 2024, at 10:00 am in the Prayer Hall. The programme started with “Om Shaganavavathu.”
Dr. V. Murugan, Assistant Professor of History, welcomed the gathering. Dr. T. Venkatesan, Principal, gave the presidential address. In his address, he highlighted Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts and "we have all talents, we have to find the talents.” He spoke about our college regulations & activities. Swami Vedananda Secretary, and Swami Adhyatmananda Kulapathi, gave their blessing.
C. Raja, Third year, Department of History, told about Narendran’s adolescence, S.Jeiguru Second year, Department of History, told about Vivekananda in Tamilnadu.
Swami Adhyathmananda motivated the students through Swami Vivekananda’s quotations “Arise! Awake! And Stop! Not till the goal is reached and Strength is Life and Weakness is Death and he also told some related incidents about Swami Vivekananda.
The Chief Guest Dr. N.Nagendran, Former Head of Department of History, gave his discourse on Sri Vivekananda’s Jeevitham. He started with PPT from Nehru’s views of Swami Vivekananda “If you read Swami Vivekananda’s writings and speeches, the curious thing will find that they are not old". He recalled Swami Vivekananda’s childhood life and achievements. He described Swami Vivekanada’s Chicago address in the year of 1893. He enlightened Swami Vivekananda’s achievements and morals.
Mr. M.P.Kumaresan Assistant Professor, Department of History, proposed the vote of thanks. The Master of Ceremony was, Dr.G.Balamurugan, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil.
