Why is it celebrated on June 21? Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, often called Doctorji, was an Indian physician, political-social activist, and the founder of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh organization. He was born in Nagpur on April 1, 1889, and on June 21, 1940, he attained peace. Every year on June 21st, International Yoga Day is observed as a tribute to him.
The event's speaker said that yoga can be done daily to improve flexibility and that maintaining your body can help you live a longer life. Additionally, he said that doing yoga is in harmony with the natural world and does not damage the body or result in any health issues, such as heart attacks. And for that reason, no one has reported that a person passed away from doing yoga.
The speaker said that poses like Ustrasana, Vrikshasana, and Mayurasana were all obtained by our forefathers from nature. The Mysore Maharaja was the first person in India to introduce yoga to the masses, and the Yoga Society of Bihar came next. In order to learn more about yoga, we can also read B.K.S. Iyengar's book, which goes into great length on the many Asana and the history of yoga. Additionally, he said that doing yoga every day will maintain our bodies young and flexible by preventing aging. He said that after doing yoga consistently for 21 days, the improvement in memory power will also come from inside.
