BIS organized a National Seminar on "Enhancing Building Durability: Waterproofing, Damp-Proofing, and Construction Chemicals" on 22 July 2024 Evening at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Chennai (A MoU institute partner of BIS).
The seminar will provide a platform for professionals, engineers, and academics to delve into the latest advancements and best practices in ensuring building durability. Key discussions will cover state-of-the-art waterproofing techniques, damp-proofing strategies, and innovations.
The Seminar was attended by around 100 participants from various organizations involved the manufacturer as well applicator of waterproofing.
In the Inaugural Session Smt. G. Bhavani, Head, Chennai Branch Office, Bureau of Indian Standards welcomed all the delegates for the seminar and sought active participation and co-operation from all the members/delegates. Shri U S P Yadav, Deputy Director General (Southern Region), Bureau of Indian Standards, delivered the keynote address and emphasized the importance of Waterproofing and its practices for sustainable development in the country. He also spoke about harmonization of Indian Standards with equivalent international best practices.
The Inaugural Session, was followed by Technical Session. Many speakers particularly, Shri Sudish Subramanian, Director, Sudish’s Institute of Waterproofing and Insulation, Bangalore, Shri Bexon G Skaria, T.E – Projects, Dr. Fixit, Pidilite Industries Ltd., Shri. Ajaya Kumar Harit, CEO-Aayka Waterproofers Pvt Ltd. Gurgaon and Shri. Vamdev G. B, General Manager – Technical, Fosroc Chemicals (India) Private Limited, Bengaluru expressed their expert views on the subject including on development of standards relating thereto.
Dr M. K. Rajak, Member Secretary, CED (Civil Engineering Department) 41 of BIS expressed his gratitude towards all the dignitaries and speakers and presented his formal vote of thanks.
