Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has been recognized as a Remote Pilot Training Organization (TNAU-RPTO) by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). In connection with this, TNAU marked a significant milestone with the distribution of RPTO certificates to its latest cohort of graduates. The ceremony, held at the Committee room of the Vice-Chancellor, showcased the dedication and achievements of 104 participants who successfully completed rigorous training in remote pilot operations with the support from National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) under Institutional Development Plan (IDP).
The RPTO program at TNAU, known for its cutting-edge curriculum and industry relevance, equips graduates with essential skills in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations. These skills are vital for sectors such as agriculture, disaster management, environmental monitoring and infrastructure inspection among others.
Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor of TNAU, emphasized the university's commitment to fostering innovation in agricultural practices through advanced technology and distributed the certificates. "The RPTO certificates not only validate our graduates' proficiency in UAV operations but also signify their readiness to contribute to agricultural development and beyond," remarked Dr.S.Pazhanivelan, Director, Centre for Water and Geospatial Studies. The Registrar, Director, Open and Distance learning, Deputy Registrar, Education, Coordinator, NAHEP and the Trainer of the RPTO were present during the ceremony.
Participants expressed their gratitude for the comprehensive training provided by TNAU, highlighting its practical approach and real-world applications. Many shared their aspirations to leverage their newfound expertise to address contemporary challenges in their respective fields. The event underscored TNAU's leadership in agricultural education and technology integration, reinforcing its role as a pioneer in preparing skilled professionals for the future.
