In observance of National Sports Day, the Department of Physical Education at Lady Doak College organized the inaugural ceremony of the Health and Fitness Club, followed by a guest lecture on the topic “Healthy Spine.” The event took place on the 29th of August, 2024, at the college premises.
The program began with a warm in welcome address, setting the tone for the day's events. The Chief Guest for the occasion, Dr. R. Beulah Jeyashree, Principal and Secretary of Lady Doak College,inaugurated and inducted the program and graced the event with her presence. In her inaugural address, Dr. Beulah Jeyashree emphasized the importance of maintaining physical health and fitness in today's fast-paced world. She highlighted the role of regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and mental well-being in leading a healthy lifestyle.
During induction of the program the President - Ms. Padma Pratibha , Vice President - Ms. Samiksha P and Secretary - Ms. Petchiammal S were facilitated for the Health and Fitness Club 2024-25
Following the inaugural ceremony, the guest speaker, Dr. R. Rajesh, MPT, Head Physiotherapist at Blue Physiotherapy in Madurai, delivered an insightful lecture on “Healthy Spine.” Dr. Rajesh, with his extensive experience in physiotherapy, provided valuable insights into the significance of spinal health. He discussed common spinal issues, their prevention, and effective management strategies. The lecture was highly informative and engaged the audience with practical tips on maintaining a healthy spine, which is crucial for overall well-being.
The event was convened by Dr. T. Shanthameena, Director of Physical Education, and Dr. M. Hemalatha, Director of Physical Education (SF), who played a pivotal role in organizing and executing the program. Their efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the event, which was attended by a large number of students.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all those who made the event a success. The Health and Fitness Club's inauguration marked the beginning of a new chapter in promoting physical health and well-being among the college community.
