Ms. M.S. Sangeetha IAS, Hon'ble District Collector, Madurai, officially launched the Apollo Breast Clinic, joined by Ms. Karthika Devi, Chief Educational Officer, Madurai Region; Ms. Premalatha, Chairman, Mahatma Group of Institutions; Ms. Rajakumari Jeevagan, Chairman, Women's Entrepreneur (WE); Dr. Beulah Jeyashree, Principal, Lady Doak College; and Ms. Poornima Venkatesh, Correspondent, Sitalakshmi Group of Institutions. These esteemed guests underscored the clinic's importance in addressing women's health issues.


"The Apollo Breast Clinic aims to resolve breast-related issues among women using state-of-the-art technology, skilled medical professionals, and AI-enabled breast health assessment. This initiative represents a significant step towards improving women's health in the region," said Ms. M.S. Sangeetha IAS. She emphasized the importance of regular breast self-examinations, highlighting how early detection can reduce the risk of breast cancer and provide an opportunity to conserve the breast. "I urge all women to prioritize their health by undergoing routine breast screenings," she added.


Mr. P. Neelakannan, COO of Apollo Hospitals, discussed findings from "The Health of the Nation 2024" report by Apollo Hospitals, which revealed a significant rise in cancer cases, with breast cancer diagnosis occurring at younger ages in India compared to Western countries. "We must increase cancer screening rates, noting the current low percentages of women undergoing necessary screenings. "Breast care is crucial for every woman," said Dr. K. Praveen Rajan, Joint Director Medical Services. "One in every twenty-eight women faces a diagnosis of breast cancer, influenced by factors such as genetics and lifestyle. It is imperative that we act swiftly to promote regular screenings and early detection. However, many women remain extremely shy and reluctant to approach a doctor with breast-related concerns. As a result, eighty percent of patients seek help only at a late stage due to hesitation. The distinguished guests of this significant event also unveiled an exclusive QR code scanner which is Artificial Intelligence powered Breast health assessment. This would definitely help the women fraternity to assess their breast health in just 2 minutes just by answering 7 questions. This is again a first of its kind initiative in South Tamilnadu.
