A MoU was signed on 20.09.2024 between Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and M/s Reliance Bio Energy Limited (RBEL), Mumbai for “For Identifying specific fodder crops for energy plantation” in the presence of Dr.R.Tamizh Vendan, Registrar, TNAU.
There is a demand for energy recently and fodder crops emerging as potential bio mass crop for renewable resource with the highest energy potential. Fodder crop varieties developed by the scientists in the Department of Forage Crops, Centre for Plant Breeding and Genetics TNAU, Coimbatore known for high bio mass yield. Bajra Napier grass with organic compositions and with very high biomass potential serves as an ideal feedstock for energy plantation.
Dr.R.ThamizhVendan, Registrar, signed the MoU on behalf of TNAU, Mr.Bashir Ahmed Shirazi, The Chief Operating Officer, RBEL, Mumbai signed for M/s Reliance Bio Energy Limited (RBEL). Dr.R.Ravikesavan, Director of Centre for Plant Breeding and Genetics, Dr.R.Pushpam, Professor and Head, Department of Forage Crops, scientists from the Department of Forage crops, Mr.G.Ananthan, Senior Manager, RBEL, Hyderabad and Mr. Balaji Velumani, RBEL, Mumbai were also present during the signing. TNAU will support RBEL with the technical Knowhow of cultivation of fodder crops as a source of energy generation.
