CSMCARI organises Medical Camps, Seminars as part of the 9th National Ayurveda Day Celebrations

Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CSMCARI), Chennai functioning under the aegis of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India has achieved a significant milestone during the first 100 days of third term of the Modi Government to enhance health care researches through Ayurveda.  This Institute comprises various departments such as Chemistry, Pharmacy, Botany / Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Microbiology.


Besides completion of hundreds of EMR/IMR projects, CSMCARI currently has 26 Inter disciplinary IMR projects. So far, this Institute published more than 500 Research articles in well-reputed National and International journals and 8 patents in Ayurveda on its credit and about 200 scientific papers have been presented in Seminar/Conference/Symposia. The monographs prepared by the Institute were published in the ‘Ayurvedic Pharmacopeia of India’ and ‘Quality Standards for Indian Medicinal Plants’ by ICMR.


This is the first Institute under the Ministry of Ayush accredited with ISO/IEC 17025 by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), under Quality Council of India, M/o Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India. This Institute is extended with license as Drug Testing Laboratory (DTL) for testing of Ayush products by the Drug Controller of Tamil Nadu (Indian System of Medicine).


Also, it has been recognized as Ph.D Study Centre under Madras University, more than 40 Ph.D scholars have been awarded degrees and currently 10 students are pursuing Ph.D at this Institute.  Hands-on training on the sophisticated instruments/equipments for undergraduate, postgraduate and research scholars of various academic institutions is given here. This Institute regularly conducts Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, Trainings, Workshops and conferences.


It is actively involved in creating awareness on national campaigns such as swatchhata Pakhwada, Rashtriya Poshan Maah, Vigilance Awareness Week, fire safety, Organ donation, Hindi Pakhwada, etc. Many social outreach activities such as medical camps, awareness lectures, and distribution of millet-based foods to raise awareness about health and nutrition are being regularly done by the Institute reaching hundreds of beneficiates in and around Chennai.


Recently, CCRAS has signed MoU with the Commissionerate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (CIM&H), Arumbakkam Chennai, in the esteemed presence of Thiru Ma. Subramanian, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Shri Gagandeep Singh Bedi, IAS, Former Principal Secretary, Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu.


On October 29th 2024, CSMCARI will celebrate the 9th Ayurveda Day with Seminars, webinars, public lectures. Medical camps and competitions focused on “Ayurveda Innovations for Global Health”.
