National Seminar on Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) at Pondicherry University

The Department of International Business, Pondicherry University organised a ICSSR Sponsored National Level Seminar on Prime Minister Mudra Yojana (PMMY) among Small Entrepreneurs on Income Generation and Employment Creation in the Union Territory of Pondicherry”


The seminar was inaugurated by the  Prof.K. Tharanikkarasu, Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry in the presence of the Chief Guest Mr.Vengata Subramanian.M, Assistant .General Manager,  Indian Bank Puducherry Region, Shrimathi S.Anbumalar, Assistant General Manager, State Bank of India, Puducherry Region,  Mr.A.Sathish Kumar,  Lead District Manager, Indian Bank Zonal Office, Puducherry, Mr.Periyathambi Chief Manager, Bank of India Puducherry and Smt.Josephine Sahaya Rani Director Indian Bank Self Employment Training Institute addressed the gathering.


During the inaugural address Prof. K Tharanikkrasu, encouraged the participants to utilize the different schemes offered by the government of India especially the schemes like PMMY, Start-up India, Stand-up India, Make in India etc., which provides entrepreneurial and funding opportunities for the small business entrepreneurs. 


The experts from banks highlighted about the Prime Minister Mudura Yojana and its significance to Pondicherry Region. During the lecture they said Pondicherry Region stands number one among Union Territories in performing its best, more than seventy percentage of the beneficiaries of this scheme are women. They also advised the students with business idea and avail collateral free loan for new business as well as for refinancing existing business through this scheme.   This seminar was organised as part of the ICSSR Research Project sanctioned to Prof. P.G.Arul Principal Investigator, Department of International Business. He presented his research findings before the bank officials, faculty members, beneficiaries and students. A panel discussion was conducted as part of the seminar were in the real time beneficiaries of the scheme shared their experiences.


The event brought together a diverse group of experts, policymakers, academicians, students and entrepreneurs to discuss and share valuable insights on the impact and future of PMMY in promoting MSMEs and financial inclusion.  Finally Mr. B.Santhosh Research scholar of the Department of International Business proposed the vote of thanks.
