TNAU Hands on Training – Modelling and Simulation using Discovery studio software

The Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology organized four days “Hands on Training – Modelling and Simulation using Discovery studio software” from 3rd to 6th December 2024 at CPMB&B, TNAU, Coimbatore.  


Participants includes faculty, PG, PhD students from various Institutes, industries viz., University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panipat, Centre for Medicinal Plants Research, Arya Vaidya Sala, Kerala, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Govt Arts College, PSGR Krishnammal College, Bharathiyar University, Chennai, V.O. Chidambaram college, Tuticorin, University Putra Malaysia and students from TNAU.  


The Training program started with the inaugural session on 3rd December. Director CPMB&B, Controller of Examinations, TNAU, Head, Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, Department of Plant Biotechnology, Faculty of CPMB&B graced the occasion.  Dr.S.Divya, Sr. Application Scientist from Altem Technologies, Bangalore was invited as a resource person for the first two days of the training programme. 


The inaugural session started with a welcome note by Dr.L.Arul, Professor and Head, Dept. of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. In his welcome note, he highlighted the importance of various topics included in the training programme. Then, participants were given the opportunity to introduce themselves to the gathering. 


The training details was given by Dr.N.Senthil, Director, CPMB&B. Also he elucidated the scope of In silico analysis in all aspects related to Pharmacology, Entomology, Biochemistry, Agriculture and all other disciplines in the current scenario. A special address was delivered by Dr.V.Balasubramani, controller of examinations, TNAU, where he accentuated the significance of Modeling, docking and simulation studies in the recent research. Vote of Thanks was given by Dr. N. Bharathi, Associate Professor (Bioinformatics).
