SRMIST Signs MoU with SRPPL for Waste-to-Fibre Research

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shree Renga Polyester Pvt. Ltd. (SRPPL), Karur, a pioneering company that converts waste PET bottles into fibers and transforms them into wearable clothing.


The MoU was formally signed by Dr. S. Ponnusamy, Registrar, SRMIST, and Dr. K. Sankar, Managing Director, SRPPL.


The partnership aims to Foster joint research and development of new products and processes in the domain of waste management, aligning with India's sustainability goals . Key highlights of the MoU include:


Collaborative Research Projects in waste-to-fibre and sustainable textile innovation.


Exchange Programs enabling SRMIST faculty members and SRPPL employees to work, train, and learn across both institutions.


Industry-Academia Collaboration where SRPPL resource persons will serve as visiting faculty at SRMIST, enriching academic programs with industry expertise.


Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ponnusamy highlighted the significance of academic-industry collaborations in building sustainable solutions, while Dr. Sankar emphasized the role of research in shaping eco-friendly innovations for the textile industry.
