Central Bureau of Communication,Thanjavur under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organised an Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Poshan Abhiyan , International Girl Child Day, Swachta Hi Seva, Vigilance Awareness and National Integrity Day at Budalur village in Thanjavur block of Thanjavur district.
Shri Ravindran, Field Publicity Assistant, Central Bureau of Communication, Thanjavur welcomed the gathering and explained the purpose of the programme. The programme was presided over by Shri Bala Nagendran, Assistant Director, Central Bureau of Communication, Regional Office, Chennai. Addressing the audience, he said that such integrated awareness programs are being conducted across the country to create awareness about government schemes, especially among rural people.
Budalur Child Development Officer, Smt. Jenita Lucia Mary highlighted the various services that can be provided to children, adolescent girls and lactating mothers through Anganwadi Centres. The foundation for the health and cognitive development of a child throughout his life is the nutrition provided in the first thousand days. Therefore, along with proper prenatal care, the child should be given only breast milk for the first six months. After the completion of six months, complementary foods should be given along with breast milk up to the age of two years, she added.
Thanjavur District Coordinator,Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Shri Senthilkumar participated and spoke about the Jal Jeevan Abhiyan project, Solid waste management, the need to separate biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and the need to avoid the use of plastic.
Smt. Divya, Chief Advisor, One Stop Centre, Thanjavur district, spoke about various safety laws for women and the 181 services. Smt. Pushpalatha, Rural Welfare Officer , explained various marriage assistance schemes provided by the Social Welfare Department. All those who attended the programme administered Integrity pledge. A healthy baby competition was held and the winners were honoured with prizes and certificates.
As part of the programme, printed materials on government schemes were distributed to the public. An exhibition on nutrition was set up on behalf of the Integrated Child Development Scheme. An awareness song and drama programme was also performed by a Central Government registered troupe. At the end of the programme, Shri Genopias, Block Coordinator, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Budalur proposed vote of thanks. Shri Arunkumar, Field Publicity Assistant, Central Bureau of Communication, Tiruchirapalli coordinated the entire programme.
