The Gedee Car Museum since its opening in April 2015 has received tremendous public response from the young and old alike. Encouraged by the good support it has received; the museum has continuously added on its collection of automobiles.
In 2023, the museum had put up an exclusive collection of Indian cars to showcase India’s achievements in the automobile sector, following its independence in 1947. It also highlights the history of automobile industry and India’s indigenous attempt to make a people’s car.
To attract the younger generation and to retain their interest in the automobile history and preservation, the museum has added yet another section named Performance Car Section, which includes Sports Cars, Super Cars, Luxury Cars and Race Cars like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Mc Laren, Lotus, Maserati, Aston Martin, Mazda, Porsche Boxster, Rolls Royce Spectre etc.
Secondly, Coimbatore being a hub for Sports Car enthusiasts, a dedicated section has been put up to showcase the veterans in this field and the various Race Cars built in Coimbatore, such as the first hand-built Race Car, Ford GT40 built by the legendary racer, Mr. Karivaradhan, and others such as LGB Rolon, MRF 1600, MRF 2000 etc. This section also highlights Coimbatore’s contribution to motorsport in terms of Auto Components, Go-kart, Formula Race Cars, Race Tracks, Motor sport Teams, Culture and Legacy and chronicles Coimbatore’s spirit for racing and what went into making the city the Motorsport capital of India.
We plan to inaugurate this museum on Friday, 17th October 2025, at 4.00 p.m.
At the same event, FIVA, an international organization connected with the preservation of Vintage Cars, will bestow an award to Mr. G D Gopal and induct him into the prestigious Hall of Fame of FIVA for the year 2025. Mr. Gopal will be the second Indian to receive such an honour.
We would like to invite the press for review of the same.
We would be willing to share photographs and other details which may be further required like entry fees, timings, websites, etc.
