RedBus Gears Up as Tamil Nadu Sees 87% Surge in Bus Bookings

With Diwali and Kandha Sashti around the corner, festive travel in Tamil Nadu is witnessing a significant rise. Data from the redBus platform shows that bookings between October 15–27, 2025, have increased by 87% compared to the same period last year (October 25–November 6), reflecting a notable surge in intercity travel.


Top routes for bookings include Chennai–Bangalore, Coimbatore–Bangalore, Madurai–Bangalore, Chennai–Coimbatore, Coimbatore–Chennai, and Chennai–Madurai. Major boarding points in Chennai include Koyambedu, Gandhipuram, Kilambakkam Bus Stand, and Mattuthavani.


Traveler preferences show 70% of bookings are for AC buses, and 73% are for sleeper buses, indicating comfort and overnight travel remain popular during the festive season. Demographics reveal 66% male and 34% female travelers, with 49% from large cities and 34% from small towns and villages. These trends highlight the growing festive travel demand in Tamil Nadu, with redBus playing a key role in enabling smooth road travel across the state and beyond.
