Department of Management at Pondicherry University Community College in collaboration with Ministry of Earth Sciences celebrated the Earth Day 2026 at the college campus. The aim of the celebrations is to organize awareness activities aimed at fostering environmental consciousness among students and the community. Today a special Inaugural session was conducted at the campus under the leadership of Prof. Lalitha Ramakrishnan, Principal (i/c) of the college. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Rajneesh Bhutani, Department of Earth Sciences, Pondicherry University. V. Shanmuganandam, CEO & Founder of Touch Energy Technology Private Limited, Puducherry gave the special guest address. The programme coordinator of Earth Day Dr. A. Bharathy, Assistant Professor and Head i/c., Department of Management gave the welcome address and read the scope of the programme.
Special events like expert guest talks on E-waste, plastic circularity, forest health cover assessment, human chain, campus clean up drive, flash mob, essay writing competition in English and Tamil, poster exhibition, workshop on citrus cleaner, cloth up cycling workshop were organised on the campus under theme of Earth Day 2026, “Our Power. Our Planet”. Tree plantation drive on campus was supported by Bisleri International Private Limited. Professor Lata Shukla, Department of Biotechnology, Pondicherry University participated in the valedictory session and distributed the cash prizes and certificates to the winners. The celebration was coordinated by Department of Management faculty Dr. A. Bharathy, Asst. Professor & Head I/c, Associate Prof. Dr. C. Arjunan and faculty on contract Dr. R. Satyamoorthy. The event was supported by all teaching faculty, non-teaching staff and students from various departments of the college.
