Sundaram Finance has strengthened its commitment to sustainability through a series of structured environmental initiatives led by its employee-driven Green Task Force (GTF). The company said sustainability has long been embedded in its operations, reflected in measures such as transitioning to solar-powered offices and running awareness campaigns like “Say No to Plastic Bags.”
To further institutionalise these efforts, the Green Task Force was launched in June 2023 for Head Office employees and later expanded to regional teams in April 2024. The initiative focuses on mobilising employees to actively participate in environmental conservation and promote sustainable practices within and beyond the workplace.
The GTF operates in collaboration with Environmental Foundation of India, a non-governmental organisation known for its work in the scientific restoration of freshwater ecosystems through community-based efforts.
According to the company, the task force aims to build a strong internal environmental movement while supporting measurable, real-time conservation projects. Employee volunteers have been engaged in several on-ground activities, including beach and lake clean-up drives, sapling plantation, and seedball preparation for ecological restoration.
Over the past few years, more than 700 employees have participated in these initiatives, contributing over 40 hours of volunteer service. The collective efforts have resulted in the creation of more than 8,000 seedballs, planting of over 800 saplings, distribution of more than 13,000 cloth bags, and execution of over 15 clean-up drives.
Through the Green Task Force, the company continues to foster environmental responsibility and community engagement among its workforce.
