Agriculture Minister Visits Coimbatore Tamil Nadu Agricultural University

Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, R. Vinoth, visited Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore on 10.06.2026 and inspected various departments and research stations.


TNAU Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Subrahamaniyan welcomed the Minister with bouquets and shawl. The visit began with a discussion between the Minister, University officials and faculty members. The Minister then inspected the University’s Paddy breeding station and reviewed the paddy varieties on display, along with details on their cultivation practices. He subsequently visited the university orchard for an on-site inspection.


Later, he inspected the student hostels and dining halls. Interacting with students, he enquired about the facilities and noted their feedback on the strengths and areas for improvement. Following this, the Minister visited the Central Farm, Department of Agricultural Engineering, Agri Business Centre, Botanical Garden, Nano Tech facility, Coxbit and Entomology Insect Museum.


The visit concluded with an interactive session with students at Anna Auditorium. The Minister delivered a special address on the importance and relevance of agriculture. Students participated actively in the discussion with the Minister. The programme was coordinated by Dr. K. Subrahmaniam, Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. N. Venkatesa Palanisamy, Dean Agriculture and Dr. M. Ravindran, Director of Research, TNAU.
