Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has secured the 37th position globally in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 and emerged as India's No. 1 university in the category of Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9). The ranking evaluates universities worldwide based on their contributions toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with Amrita standing out among more than 1,500 institutions from over 115 countries.
The university also earned a place among the Global Top 25 institutions for Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), No Poverty (SDG 1), Clean Water & Sanitation (SDG 6), and Affordable & Clean Energy (SDG 7). In addition, Amrita ranked among the Global Top 50 for Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9) and Climate Action (SDG 13), while also securing a place in the Global Top 100 for Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3).
“We should consider how much we have used research to serve the most vulnerable sections of society. That is what makes our impact truly meaningful,” said Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Highlighting the university’s mission, Maneesha V. Ramesh said, “Technology realizes its true value only when it reaches those who need it most, and our work continues to translate research into solutions that improve lives.”
