Former Rural Development Minister and DMK Deputy General Secretary I. Periyasamy stated that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is the only political movement that consistently works for the welfare of the people, regardless of whether it is in power or in the opposition.
He made these remarks while addressing a gathering at Narasingapuram, under Sithayankottai Town Panchayat in Athoor Union, Dindigul district, during the inauguration of a new overhead water tank.
Upon his arrival, Periyasamy was given a warm reception by local residents and party workers led by former Town Panchayat Vice-Chairman Thangapandian. Villagers welcomed him with shawls and sandalwood garlands and conveyed their greetings.
After inaugurating the overhead water tank and formally commencing the supply of drinking water to residents, Periyasamy addressed the public. He said that the affection shown to him by the people of Narasingapuram since 1989 has been immeasurable and deeply encouraging.
He emphasized that the DMK has always stood with the people, whether in government or opposition, and has consistently raised its voice against policies and actions perceived to be against public interest. He added that public welfare initiatives would continue in the spirit and ideological path laid down by former Chief Minister and DMK leader M. Karunanidhi and carried forward by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
Speaking about development in the Athoor Assembly constituency, Periyasamy noted that community halls had been constructed in numerous village panchayats, enabling residents to conduct family functions and public events at affordable costs. He credited these efforts to the vision and support of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
He further stated that serving the people of the Athoor constituency remains his lifelong mission and assured residents that he would continue implementing welfare schemes for all sections of society without discrimination. His remarks were met with enthusiastic applause from the gathering.

Sathiyamoorthy, Union Secretary Raman, District Youth Wing Deputy Organizer Manalur Manikandan, former District Panchayat Chairman Bhaskaran, Executive Officer Jayamalu, Town Panchayat Chairperson Pothumponnu Murali, Vice-Chairman Jahir Hussain, Ayyampalayam Town Panchayat Chairperson Rekha Ayyappan, Women’s Wing Organizer Pappathi, and several other party functionaries and local representatives.
