The Erode City District Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) held its general body meeting at Ashokapuram Devi Mahal in Erode under the leadership of District Secretary S.R. Raju. District President Prabhu welcomed the gathering, and State Coordinator Karthi delivered a special address.
The meeting expressed gratitude to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay for announcing the conduct of a caste-based census.
The meeting strongly opposed the Karnataka government’s plan to construct a dam across the Cauvery River at Mekedatu and urged both the Central and State governments to prevent the implementation of this Mekedatu dam project.
The meeting demanded that the recent increase in property tax and professional tax by the Erode Corporation be reconsidered, stressing the need for a fair review of the tax revision in Erode.
The meeting condemned Karnataka’s attempt to build the Mekedatu dam and highlighted Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss’s ongoing protest march against it. It was announced that he will participate in a public meeting in Erode on July 2, and farmers will be mobilized to ensure the success of this Anbumani Ramadoss protest march.
Prior to the meeting, the birthday of District Secretary S.R. Raju was celebrated with fireworks, and party administrators extended their greetings and best wishes to him.
