Electric vehicle manufacturer Zelio E-Mobility has strengthened its expansion strategy in South India with the inauguration of a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore. Located on Trichy Road at Kannampalayam, the 39,000 sq. ft. plant will support electric scooter assembly, storage, logistics, and allied operations while catering to key southern markets including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and South Maharashtra.
The facility has an installed production capacity of 60,000 electric two-wheelers annually and is expected to manufacture between 24,000 and 30,000 units during its initial phase. With this addition, Zelio E-Mobility's total manufacturing capacity has increased from 1.8 lakh units to 2.4 lakh units per annum, representing a 33% expansion.
The company has invested up to ₹1 crore in the Coimbatore plant, which currently employs 30 people. Over the coming months, the facility is expected to generate more than 100 additional jobs, supporting Zelio's plan to cross 500 employees during the current financial year.
Commenting on the expansion, Kunal Arya, Managing Director, Zelio E-Mobility, said the Coimbatore plant marks an important milestone in the company's growth journey and will help improve supply chain efficiency, strengthen dealer support, and accelerate EV adoption across southern India.
The new unit follows the company's existing manufacturing standards and complements its facilities in Haryana and Odisha. Zelio currently operates through a network of over 400 dealerships across more than 25 states and plans to expand to over 550 dealerships by FY27. The expansion follows the company's strong financial performance, with revenue growing 81.8% year-on-year to ₹313.68 crore in FY2025-26, reinforcing its position as one of India's rapidly growing electric mobility companies.
