A stress management training programme was conducted on July 31, 2026, for personnel serving at the Madurai Central Prison, Madurai Women's Special Prison, and the district and sub-jails under their administrative control.

The programme was held in the presence of Deputy Inspector General of Prisons (Madurai Range) Dr. A. Murugesan. Prison Superintendent Satheesh Kumar coordinated the event and delivered the welcome address.

The training was conducted by Dr. P.R. Subash Chandran, psychologist and motivational speaker, who explained the scientific impact of positive and negative thinking on mental well-being. Emphasising the theme that "our thoughts shape our lives," he said stress naturally arises when expectations remain unfulfilled and that letting go of unnecessary thoughts is the key to inner peace.

He also shared practical and simple techniques to help prison personnel manage stress effectively in their daily professional and personal lives.

More than 250 prison staff members participated in the programme and benefited from the training.
