As part of the celebration of World Entrepreneurs’ Day 2026, the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), in collaboration with AVS Arts and Science College, Salem, organized a two-day seminar and exhibition titled “BIZCOM 2026 Festival.” The event aimed to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and the spirit of enterprise among college students.

The programme was presided over by Mr. Rajavinayagam, College Secretary, AVS Arts and Science College. Dr. Jaisankar, Project Officer, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), attended the event as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp along with Dr. Carmel Mercy Priya, Principal of the College.

The festival featured a wide range of innovative prototype products and inventions developed by college students. Students enthusiastically displayed their creations and explained their ideas, demonstrating their creativity, problem-solving abilities, and entrepreneurial potential. A special attraction of the exhibition was the Tamil Department’s display of 99 varieties of flowers, accompanied by information about their medicinal uses and traditional significance. Stalls organized by students of the Commerce and History Departments also contributed to creating awareness and interest in entrepreneurship among the student community.

Beneficiaries trained through the initiatives of EDII, WeAct, and Accenture’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme also participated in the festival. They showcased and sold a variety of products manufactured by them, including laptop bags, baby beds, upcycled products, colourful bags, laddus, millet thinai murukku, and other millet-based value-added food products. Their participation provided students with an opportunity to understand entrepreneurship not only as an academic concept but also as a viable avenue for livelihood and economic empowerment.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jaisankar, Project Officer, EDII, emphasized the growing need for graduates to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. He noted that the number of graduates produced every year significantly exceeds the number of new employment opportunities generated across the government, public, and private sectors. He pointed out that approximately one crore students graduate from various streams in India every year and urged students to move beyond the traditional pursuit of employment. Dr. Jaisankar encouraged the students to “transform from job seekers into job creators” by identifying opportunities, developing innovative ideas, acquiring entrepreneurial skills, and creating sustainable ventures.
