With the objective of promoting sanitation, hygiene and responsible toilet usage among the public, Smart Sanitation Foundation, Tenkasi, has initiated “Toilet Thiruvizha 2026 – தென்காசியில் ஆரம்பம், ஆரோக்கியமான தமிழகம்,” a 100-day, district-wide sanitation awareness campaign.

The initiative has been appreciated and supported by Tenkasi District Collector Mr. Ranjeet Singh, who has encouraged the initiative and extended administrative support for carrying out the planned activities across the district.

The 100-day campaign will focus on creating awareness among school students, educational institutions, communities and the general public on the importance of personal hygiene, clean and safe toilets, and proper sanitation practices.

As part of the initiative, several activities have been planned, including school sanitation awareness programmes, menstrual hygiene awareness programmes, training activities for differently-abled persons, capacity-building programmes for sanitation workers, and public awareness programmes.

Speaking about the initiative, Smart Sanitation Foundation stated that toilets are not merely infrastructure, but are closely connected to human dignity, health, safety and quality of life. The Foundation aims to bring together government bodies, educational institutions, local communities, social organisations and citizens to create a sustainable sanitation movement.

The programme will also include continuous monitoring and evaluation of the activities during the 100-day period to assess their reach and impact.

The initiative carries the vision of “தென்காசியில் ஆரம்பம், ஆரோக்கியமான தமிழகம்” – “Starting in Tenkasi, towards a Healthy Tamil Nadu,” with the objective of making sanitation awareness a community-driven movement and creating a model that can be expanded beyond the district.

Smart Sanitation Foundation, Tenkasi, has invited schools, educational institutions, local bodies, social organisations, sanitation workers and the public to actively participate in the 100-day initiative and contribute towards building a cleaner, healthier and more dignified society.
