The DBT - STAR College Scheme inauguration was organized by PG & Research Department of Biotechnology and Computer Science at Nandha Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Erode. Banumathi Shanmugan, Trustee, Sri Nandha Educational Trust started the event with the ceremonial lamp lighting.
The event was presided over by V. Shanmugan, Chairman of Sri Nandha Educational Trust, Erode. Dr. S. Manoharan, Principal, delivered the welcome address to the gathering. Dr. Garima Gupta, Scientist 'G' and Advisor, The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, delivered the inaugural address and also insist the importance of BIOE3 initiatives. Dr. R. Rajendran, External Expert & Mentor, DBT – Star College scheme delivered the key note address and discussed about laboratory infrastructure, procure advanced instrument and enhance digital learning resources. Furthermore the initiatives fosters, interdisciplinary collaboration, sponsors capacity- building workshops for faculty and technical staff and provides students with vital industry exposure through industrial visits.
The event was felicitated by advisory committee member Dr. R. Dhanabalan, from RVS College of Arts and Science, S. Nandhakumar Pradeep, and S. Thirumoorthi, Joint Managing Trustee, Sri Nandha Educational Trust, Administrative Officer Dr. V. C. Srinivasan and DBT- Star College Scheme Coordinator Dr. K. Abdhul. During the inauguration, key discussions were focused on the implementation of the DBT - Star Scheme agenda - enhancing undergraduate research through individual hands-on projects, upgrading laboratory infrastructure with advanced equipment, and fostering interdisciplinary research biotechnology with Computer Science.
Additionally, the scheme aims to drive faculty development programs, facilitate industrial exposure visits, and provide specialized skill training to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry standards. Dr. T. Parimalam, Associate Professor & Head, PG & Research Department of Computer Science gave the vote of thanks to organizers, guests and attendees.
