Qube Cinema and Karpagam Grandplex have introduced two premium cinema experiences, EPIQ and EPIQ Luxon, at Karpagam Grandplex in Coimbatore. The launch marks the debut of Tamil Nadu’s first EPIQ Luxon and the 14th EPIQ screen. The EPIQ Luxon installation is also claimed to be India’s largest LED Cinema screen.
The two new auditoriums offer distinct approaches to premium movie presentation, combining advanced visual and audio technologies, immersive acoustics and specially designed cinema environments.
The EPIQ auditorium features Barco 4K RGB Laser projection technology, offering high-resolution images with enhanced brightness, contrast and colour performance. A custom high-contrast lens further improves image contrast and visual depth, delivering greater richness and detail on the large screen.
EPIQ Luxon adopts LED Cinema technology instead of conventional projection. The image is generated directly through individual LED pixels, enabling high brightness, deep blacks, strong contrast and consistent image quality across the screen. The technology is designed to enhance scenes where colour, contrast and fine detail are important.
The EPIQ Luxon screen at Karpagam Grandplex is acoustically transparent, allowing sound to pass through the display and enabling speakers to be positioned behind the screen for immersive audio.
Both auditoriums are equipped with MAG Audio and Dolby Atmos and feature all-black interiors designed to minimise reflections and distractions during screenings.
Qube Cinema CEO Harsh Rohatgi said the launch would give Coimbatore audiences access to two distinct premium cinema formats built around advanced picture and sound technologies. He said the introduction of EPIQ Luxon marked an important first for Tamil Nadu.
Karpagam Group of Theatres Managing Director N. Sivaprakasam said the company aimed to provide audiences with memorable cinema experiences. He said the new technologies, acoustically transparent LED screen, Dolby Atmos and all-black interiors had been incorporated to create a more immersive environment.
The launch expands Qube Cinema’s EPIQ presence across India and its focus on advanced cinema technologies. Qube’s cinema technology portfolio serves the filmmaking and exhibition ecosystem, with installations across 135 countries.
