A one-day internship programme was organised at Madurai Airport for students pursuing a diploma in the Airport and Aviation sector at Theni Thiraviyam College, with the objective of providing them with practical exposure and industry-oriented experience alongside their classroom education. The programme was organised on the advice of the college Chairman, Dr. Pandiarajan, and Principal, Dr. Gomathi.

Addressing the students at the airport, Prof. Abdul Kadir, former Principal of MSS Wakf Board College, Madurai, and Managing Director of Royal Aviation Academy, underlined the value of hands-on industry exposure in equipping aspiring aviation students with the practical skills needed for their future careers.

He said direct exposure to airport operations would enable students to understand the functioning of various departments and gain insights into the professional environment of the aviation sector. Such industry-oriented training, he said, would strengthen their practical skills and help them develop confidence and competence for their future careers.

During the internship, the students were given practical training and explanations on various airport operations, including passenger arrival and departure procedures, passenger services, ticketing and travel documentation, security procedures, baggage handling and the functioning of the airport control room. The students said the one-day internship will complement their classroom learning and help them gain a clearer understanding of their career prospects in the aviation sector.

The internship arrangements were made by Mr. Nagasubramanian, Managing Director of The Rising Aviation Academy, Kochi. Faculty members Nivya and Aruna of Theni Thiraviyam College accompanied the students during the training programme.
