MakeMyTrip’s Price Drop Protection Protects Travellers Against Post-Booking Fare Drops

MakeMyTrip has introduced Price Drop Protection, a new feature designed to give travellers greater confidence when booking flights in advance. The feature refunds the difference if the flight fare drops after booking, helping travellers avoid the uncertainty of whether to book early or wait for a lower fare.

Indian travellers often compare fares multiple times before making a booking, with personal and professional commitments also influencing when they finalise their travel plans. Price Drop Protection is designed to address this hesitation by providing financial assurance even after the booking is confirmed.

The feature is available for both one-way and round-trip domestic and international flights. Travellers can opt for Price Drop Protection while booking, starting at INR 229 per person for domestic flights and INR 349 per person for international flights. The maximum refund on the fare difference is INR 2,500 per person for domestic flights and INR 3,000 per person for international flights.

Raj Rishi Singh, COO, Flights, Corporate, GCC and Marketing, MakeMyTrip, said, “Travellers should not have to choose between booking early and worrying that fares may fall later. Price Drop Protection lets them book when it works for them, with the reassurance that if the fare drops, they are protected.”

The feature tracks fare movements until six hours before departure. If an eligible fare drop occurs, MakeMyTrip notifies the traveller and credits the refund to the original mode of payment.

Price Drop Protection complements MakeMyTrip’s existing flight assurance offerings, including Zero Cancellation and Free Date Change, extending protection to post-booking fare movements.
