Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited has been honoured with the Mahatma Award 2026 in the Community Initiatives category for its social development programmes undertaken through the Crompton CSR Foundation (CCF). The award, an initiative of the Mahatma Foundation hosted by Liveweek Group, recognises the impact of Project Jal Jeevan and Project Saksham.
Project Jal Jeevan works to improve water availability and agricultural livelihoods in Ahilyanagar in Maharashtra and Sirohi and Pali in Rajasthan. Its interventions include rejuvenating water bodies, harvesting rainwater, groundwater recharge, participatory water budgeting and promoting better farming practices.
Between FY 2024 and FY 2026, the programme restored 378 water structures and created a storage capacity of 27,315 lakh litres. It supported cultivation across an additional 2,253 acres and reached 1.67 lakh farmers, including more than 50,000 women. A total of 1,468 self-help groups participated, while household incomes in intervention areas increased by 16%.
A third-party assessment reported that groundwater access improved by 20–60 feet, crop yields rose by 100%, and 84% of farmers shifted towards higher-value crops. The share of households earning Rs.1.5–2 lakh annually increased from 13% to 25%. Seasonal migration also stopped for 70% of the households assessed.
Project Saksham, in partnership with Tata STRIVE, equips women with technical skills and employment support in traditionally male-dominated sectors. It trained 102 women as Assistant Electricians, with 92 securing jobs during FY 2024–26. The approximately 90% placement rate represents annualised income opportunities of Rs.1.01 crore. The programme also supported 75 women working in manufacturing facilities in Goa and Baddi through workplace training.
Anita Pansare, Head - Innovation and ESG & Chief Technology Officer at Crompton, said the company remains committed to strengthening communities through sustainable livelihood opportunities, technical skills and long-term development.
The recognition highlights CCF’s partnership-led approach to community resilience and inclusive growth.
