As part of its commitment to serve its community, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company Ltd (Kotak Life) today announced its social development initiative of setting up health camps across three districts of Tamil Nadu. The health camps will be set up at Virudhunagar District from 22 May 2023 to 26 May 2023, Thoothukudi District from 27 May 2023 to 01 June 2023 and Kallakurichi District from 02 June 2023 to 07 June 2023.
Kotak Life healthcare services initiative at P. Pudupatti village, Kariapatti Block in Virudhunagar District of Tamil Nadu was flagged off by Dr V P Jeyaseelan, IAS, The District Collector of Virudhunagar and Sanjay Sundaram, Executive Vice President, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company.
Kotak Life’s community service initiative is implemented by the Wockhardt Foundation that aims to provide health-related awareness via its health camps among local villagers in the rural areas, urban slums and other areas of Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi and Kallakurichi. In these health camps, doctors will conduct general check-ups and provide counselling and medicines to the patients.
Mahesh Balasubramanian, Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company said, "The healthcare initiative by Kotak Life is one of the ways we connect with our people and try to make a positive impact in their life. By bringing healthcare service to people’s doorstep, we intend to spread awareness of the benefits of good health and healthy living in and around our community. The camps help people understand ways to prevent diseases, identify health problems and provide treatment and follow-up care.”
In its mission of Insurance for all, the regulator –Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI, nominated Kotak Life as the lead insurer for the state of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, which will be responsible for growing insurance awareness and penetration in the region. Last year Kotak Life added five new branches in the state. As on 31 March 2023, of the total 289 branches of Kotak Life, 36 branches were in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. Similarly, close to 10% of the total new business gross premium for Kotak Life came from Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and has shown a growth of 33% in FY2023.
