Memorandum of understanding signed today (11.05.2023) between Directorate of Census, Chennai, under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, and National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli to conduct research on population data through 'Hi-Tech Data Analysis System'. The MoU was signed by Mr. Sajansingh R. Chavan, Director on behalf of Directorate of Population Census, Chennai, Dr. Mrs. G. Akhila, Director on behalf of Tiruchirappalli National Institute of Technology. The MoU exchange program attended by former Research and Consulting Dr. Mr. Sankaranarayanan, Chairman of Computing Support Group Dr. Sivakumaran, Research and Advisory Vice-Chancellor Dr. Anand, and Project Liaison Officer Mr. Faisal Ahmed.
National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli has for the first time pioneered among 31 National Institutes of Technology in the country to develop a secure private platform for researching population micro-data, which is a boon for population researchers and young researchers. Through this agreement, the Office of the Chief Census Bureau of India will separately provide 'high-tech research software' to universities and research institutes in the country specifically for analyzing population data. Researches will be conducted to provide valid information to the researchers and conduct socio-economic research and its results will provide necessary information to the planners and lead to proper planning.
National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli through its high-tech research computer-aided research to identify the strengths and weaknesses of micro-informatics, develop and provide software to further improve the census. Research software, operating platform, statistical software will be provided to the researchers to analyze the data from Population 2001 to Population 2021.
This MoU will serve as a precursor to census researchers and a tool to inform planners of the results of the survey.
