GeM (Government e-Marketplace), India's leading online public procurement platform, is delighted to announce a strategic partnership with TANSTIA (Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association).
TANSTIA, registered under the Tamil Nādu Societies Registration Act, 1975. TANSTIA has totally 105 SSI Associations and nearly 1600 direct unit holders in its membership folder and nearly 27216 indirect members, including District SSI Associations, Industrial Estate Manufacturers Associations, Product-wise Manufacturers Associations, and more.
Recognizing the potential for collaboration, GeM has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to TANSTIA to jointly enhance the GeM seller base in Tamil Nadu. The agreement outlines the commitments and collaborative efforts of both parties to promote transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity in public procurement processes. The partnership between GeM and TANSTIA holds immense potential for growth and development in the small and tiny industries sector in Tamil Nadu.
During the last fiscal year, Tamil Nadu recorded the second highest growth in GeM procurement amongst 36 States and UTs. The State observed an increase in order value by 302.5% from INR 220.89 Crore in FY21-22 to INR 889.19 Crore in FY 22-23. MSEs received orders worth INR 3,808.50 Crore from Central and State Govt. Buyers in FY 22-23, an increase of 122.0% from FY 21-22. With access to the national market, 92% of orders (in terms of value) were from Buyers outside Tamil Nadu.
Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is the Public Procurement Portal for procurement of goods and services for all Central Government and State Government Ministries, Departments, Public Sector Units (PSUs) and affiliated. GeM endeavours to make public procurement process transparent, efficient and inclusive. In the financial year 2022-2023, procurement of goods and services from government portal Government e Marketplace (GeM) has crossed the Rs 2 lakh crore mark, which is a remarkable achievement. GeM is now dedicatedly focusing on facilitating State Government Departments to enhance the procurement through the portal, with an intent to onboard all state buyers and local sellers. GeM has sought the services of Ernst & Young (EY) as consultants for increasing the adoption of GeM with State Governments.
