Integrated communication outreach programme by CBC at Mathur in Manikandam

Central Bureau of Communication Field Office Tiruchirapalli under Union Information and Broadcasting organised Integrated Communication Outreach Programme ICOP on central govt welfare schemes, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Meri Maati Mera Desh, International year of Millets, Mission Life Environment at Mathur Community Hall in Manikandam, Tiruchirapalli on Tuesday.

Field Publicity Assistant Tiruchirapalli Mr. S Arunkumar in his welcome address said that the outreach programme is held in coordination with Manikandam Panchayat Union.

Field Publicity Officer Tiruchirapalli Mr. K Devi Padmanabhan in his key note address said that awareness programmes are being organised all over the nation to disseminate information on central govt schemes. He said that United Nations accepted India’s request to celebrate this year as International year of Millets to stress the importance of nutritious diet. 

He said that Prime Minister had urged people in Mann Ki Baat speech to take Meri Maati Mera Desh pledge to remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters as part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. This is the time to honour unsung heroes of freedom struggle and pointed out that Vedaranyam Salt Satyagraha March; led by Rajaji was started from Tiruchirapalli. 

He pointed out that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which was started on Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi birthday October 2 in 2014 is being implemented successfully. More than 50 per cent of villages are ODF plus by sustaining open defecation free status with waste management system. More than 11 crore 24 lakh individual toilets and 2.35 lakh  community sanitary complexes have been built under Swachh Bharat Gramin in rural areas. In urban areas 62.88 lakh individual household toilets and 6.36 lakh community toilets built under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. 

He stressed importance of safeguarding environment and spoke about Mission Life Environment. He said that cloth bags are being distributed to create awareness about prevention of one time use plastics. 

Ms. Kamalam Karupiah, Chairperson , Manikandam Panchayat Union in her presidential address said that public should utilise government schemes for their benefit. She urged them to konwo about various welfare schemes to utilise it properly.

Mr. R Bharatidasan President, Mathur Panchayat in his special address said that welfare schemes are being implemented for the benefit of public. He spoke about various government schemes implemented in the Panchayat.

Ms. Shanti Ramesh Senior Newsreader All India Radio Tiruchirapalli in her special address said that central government is implementing various welfare schemes like PM Awas Yojana, PM Bima Yojana, AYushman Scheme and SUkanya Samriddhi scheme. She said that children especially girl students should use literacy to progress. She pointed out that Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme is to ensure progress of girl child through education. She spoke about importance of listening to news especially All India Radio and utilise knowledge to compete in various exams. She said that Prime Minister is addressing citizens through Radio in Mann Ki Baat every month. Meri Maati Mera Desh announced by Prime Minister in Mann Ki Baat is to remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters. She pointed out that 75 saplings are being planted in each village under Meri Maati Mera Desh.

Ms. R Parimala CDPO, Manikandam in her special address spoke about nutritious foods especially leafy vegetables. She said Millets should be part of diet to strengthen selfimmunity. 

Mr. P Sasikumar Manikandam Block Coordinator Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in his special address spoke about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and urged people to segregate waste as degradable and nondegradable waste.

Mr. A Francis Mathur Panchayat Secretary delivered vote of thanks.

Cloth bags were distributed to public as part of awareness on avoiding use of plastics. Booklets and pamphlets on central government welfare schemes were distributed. Song and drama registered troupe Bharati Kalai Kuzhu Trichy performed awareness programme.
