Lady Doak College organised the Intercollegiate Meet Thazhal ’23

The Student Cabinet 2023-24 of Lady Doak College organised the Intercollegiate Meet Thazhal ’23 on 26.9.2023 with great enthusiasm. The programme began with Prayer Song by students of the Centre for Music followed by Prayer by Ms. J. S. Pricilla, SCM President, Student Cabinet. Ms. R. Preethi, PG Representative (Aided), Student Cabinet delivered the Welcome Address. 

The Introductory Remarks was given by Dr. Christianna Singh, Principal and Secretary. Ms. V. Jenitha Princy, PG Representative (SF), Student Cabinet introduced the Chief Guest of the event, Ms. Naveena Shri, Assistant General Manager, Thangamayil Jewellery Limited, Madurai. Dr. R. Beulah Jeyashree, Vice Principal gave a memento to the Chief Guest as a token of appreciation and gratitude. The lamp was lighted by the Chief Guest and the dignitaries. 

A number of events such as poem writing in Tamil and English, Trivia, Rangoli, Fashion Parade, Short Film, Group Dance and Face Painting, etc. were conducted and students from 21 colleges across the state participated in the events. Ms. Naveena Shri delivered the Chief Guest address. She reminisced about her days as a former alumna of the college. She narrated an anecdote highlighting the fact that one must look at the positive and beautiful aspects of life and overcome all hurdles and challenges to live a successful life. The first promo of Thangamayil Jewellery ‘Sil-wear Smile’ was launched today during the event. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Mothi, Vice President (Aided), Student Cabinet. 

The Valediction of the Intercollegiate Meet began at 4 p.m. Ms. R. Keerthi Latha, Cultural Secretary, Student Cabinet welcomed the gathering. The Chief Guest of the Valediction,  Mr. M. Andrews, VJ, RJ, Social Media Influencer was introduced by Ms. Monisha, Cultural Secretary, Student Cabinet. 

Dr. Christianna Singh, Principal and Secretary honoured the Chief Guest. Mr. M. Andrews began the Chief Guest Address by appreciating the title Thazhal ’23 for this year’s ICM, that it is very apt and thoughtful. He shared his life story of how he started as an average student in school to becoming one of the popular VJs. He encouraged the students to develop their own talents and to keep the self-confidence burning in them. He distributed the prizes to the prize winners of the various events. 

The runner up trophy was won by The American College. The overall winner of Thazhal ’23 was Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College, Sivakasi. Ms. R. Priyadharshini, Cultural Secretary, Student Cabinet delivered the Vote of Thanks.  The ICM Thazhal ’23 was conducted in an exuberant manner by the Student Cabinet under the guidance and support of the Deans of Student  Affairs, Dr. S. Arockia Shyamala Paniyarasi,  Dr. T. Mouna Sundari and Dr. J. Jullie Prathiba and Dr. C. Esther Elizabeth Grace, Assistant Deans of Student Affairs. The programme ended with College Song followed by National Anthem.
