IndianOil Corporation Ltd is set to mark a significant milestone with the inauguration of its newest addition, the Asanur Pipeline Terminal in Tamil Nadu. Hon’ble Prime Minister would inaugurated this New Asanur Pipeline Terminal through VC from an event held at Tiruchirappalli on 02.01.2024.

The 'Construction of New Pipeline Terminal at Asanur' initiative was conceived to alleviate pressure from existing terminals in Chennai, catering to the burgeoning energy needs of Central and Northern Tamil Nadu. The terminal constructed at a sanctioned project cost of Rs 456 Crores, spans an area of approximately 75 acres in the Asanur Village of Kallakurichi District.

This cutting-edge terminal is equipped with substantial facilities, including major tankage capable of storing 80,000 KL (30,000 KL for MS, 45,000 KL for HSD, and 5,000 KL for other products).

Additionally, it features a state-of-the-art TT Loading Facility comprising a 1 x 8 Bay Tank Lorry Filling Gantry (TLF) with Bottom Loading capability.

The terminal's primary source of input is the Chennai-Trichy-Madurai Pipeline, and it anticipates a projected throughput of 817 TKLPA for FY 24-25, equivalent to approximately 2722 KL per Day, facilitating around 160 Tanker Trucks (TTs) daily.

Geared to serve eight districts of Tamil Nadu (Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Salem, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, and Villupuram) along with the Union Territory of Puducherry, this initiative is poised to bring several advantages to the region:

- Ensuring a consistent and secure supply of Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) products in North and Central Tamil Nadu.

- Enhancing product availability through an extensive cross-country pipeline network.

- Creating employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases, with approximately 1.3 lakh manhours expected annually during operations.

- Anticipated logistics savings amounting to approximately Rs 17.36 Crore per annum, corresponding to fuel savings of about 1847 KL per annum and a reduction of approximately 0.005 million tons of CO2 emissions per annum.

The Asanur Pipeline Terminal represents IndianOil's commitment to bolstering energy infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and ensuring a sustainable future. The inauguration ceremony, graced by the Hon'ble Prime Minister, stands as a testament to IndianOil's dedication to serving the nation's energy requirements.
