SHG women should act as ambassadors of the Chief Minister in lobbying the people for the welfare schemes of the government. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Udayanidhi Stalin has appealed. He inaugurated Rs 179.09 crore financial assistance and Rs 136.06 crore projects for 12291 women self help group beneficiaries at a function organized by Tamil Nadu Women Development Corporation at Erode Solar Area.
In his speech, he said that a sports hall will be constructed at the place where the bus station is located after taking permission from the Chief Minister. Late Chief Minister Kalainar launched the Women's Self Help Group Scheme. Of the Rs 30,000 crore credit target set for SHGs this year, Rs 25,000 crore has been disbursed so far. Since 2014, the state has given Rs.6 lakh crore to the central government as tax. Of the funds collected, 29 paise was returned to the state. Despite this, the state government has done a lot for the development of women for the overall development of the state. Currently, 1.7 lakh children are getting breakfast in schools, 1.16 crore women are getting Rs 1000 monthly entitlement and lakhs of girls are getting Rs 1000 monthly for higher education under Pudumai Bani Scheme.
Every woman saves almost 1000 rupees every month by traveling free on government buses. SHG women are involved in home seeking medicine health programme. Poomalai campuses were built in all districts for their welfare. A website is created to sell their products. At today's function, 100 battery vehicles worth Rs 3.20 crore were given away to help sell their products. A bank loan of Rs.19.20 lakh was also given to 6 SHGs to develop their business. It is not a debt, but the confidence shown by the Chief Minister in them. He appealed to the SHGs to make effective use of these schemes to advance in life.
