TNAU organized 6th Covai Flower Show

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore has successfully organized five flower shows in the past from 2005 to 2012 in order to create awareness among the people on importance of flower and flower industry. 

We proudly say that after eleven years, TNAU is organizing the mega event “6th TNAU Covai Flower Show” in alliance with Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore from 23rd to 25th February 2024 at the University Botanical Garden. When the 5th flower show was conducted during 2012, about 2.0 lakh people have visited the show. This year we are expecting more than 3.0 lakh people may turn out for the show. This grand flower show is organized for the benefit of children, public, agricultural and horticultural scientists and entrepreneurs. 

More than 200 varieties of loose flowers such as chrysanthemum, aster, petunia, salvia, pansy and cut flowers such as rose, chrysanthemum, anthurium, orchid, lilium, carnation, gerbera, lisianthus, bird of paradise, heliconia, gypsophila, statice and rare exotic flowers like banksias, leucospermum, ornamental brassica, hypericum, peony, kochia, protea, ornamental pineapple etc., presented in different forms and structures will be be displayed in the show.

Significance exhibited of flower show

The main aim of the flower show is to create awareness on biodiversity, environment conservation and economical value of flowers to school children and public. The collaboration of horticultural scientists, flower entrepreneurs and flower decorations with their novel ideas and views would make the three days flower show a grand event, Further, the show would aid the public to relax in a healthy environment.

Identity of the 6th TNAU Covai Flower Show

The following are some of the highlights of the show:

  • The flower presentation made out of loose flowers and cut flowers portray the message delivered by the flowers to the public.
  • Some of the exotic flowers such as banksias, leucospermum, ornamental brassica, hypericum, peony, protea and ornamental pineapple would find a place in the show.
  • Moreover handicrafts made out of dry flowers and Japanese style of arrangement known as ‘Ikebana’ also finds a place in the flower mela.
  • Vegetable carvings using locally grown vegetables evokes curiosity in the minds of a innovator.
  • Bonsai-the Chinese art of growing trees in pots are additional attractions displaying more than hundred types of fruit and ornamental trees.

The Covai Rotary Uptown at the service of the society is advocating to add spice to the show with attributes such as dog show, display of vintage cars, art and photography exhibition, cultural programmes, etc. Competitions for floral arrangement for the public will be conducted and the winner will be awarded on valedictory function

Exhibitions stalls

Horticulture and agro based industries, banks, educational institutions, siddha medicine stalls and food court besides more than 100 commercial stalls will be set up in the show.
