The celebration of International Women's Day was celebrated on March 10 at Guru Hospital.
Dr. S. G. Balamurugan, Oncologist delivered the welcome address.
Dr. B. Kalpana Artificial Insemination Specialist, greeted on becoming the President of All India Artificial Insemination Committee, Dr. N. Jagadeesan, President, Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Revathi Kailarajan, Former Dean, Madurai Medical College, and Dr. Senthiru Ramachandran and Gynaecologist delivered the felicitation speech.
Dr. B. Kalpana shared 25 years of experience. Guru Hospitals recalled the birth of thousands of artificial insemination babies at the hospital and the first in South India to be elected president of the National All India Infertility Committee. To highlight the doctor's responsibility in infertility care, she also mentioned the launch of a signature campaign called motherhood is her right. She said many people had signed it. She said that motherhood being made a social compulsion would make women vulnerable to depression. She urged people to post #her_pregnancy _her_right on social media and said that Guru Hospital has done thousands of lap surgeries and cancer cure services for women in the last 20 years. She also said that sperm testing, ultrasound, counselling services for infertility is done and IVF and IUI treatments are done at subsidised rates.
A Patti Mandram on the title “Is it pleasant to be a mother after this? Or is it Mandatory?” was presided over by Solomon Pappaiah. More than 750 doctors participated. Many doctors were honored. The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kalpana.
