10th International Day of Yoga Celebrated in NIT Trichy by CBC Field Office

Central Bureau of Communication Field Office Tiruchirapalli under Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in coordination with NIT Trichy organised Integrated Communication Outreach Programme on Tenth  International Day of Yoga at National Institute of Technology Trichy on June 21, 2024.


Shri K Devi Padmanabhan, Field Publicity Officer Tiruchirapalli in his introductory address said that tenth International Day of Yoga is celebrated by United Nations all over the world on June 21. He said Yoga for Self and Society is the theme for Yoga Day this year. He pointed out that it was because of efforts of Shri Narendra Modi that United Nations decided to celebrate International Day of Yoga every year on June 21 from 2015 onwards. June 21 was proposed by Shri Narendra Modi as it is summer solstice longest day of the year.  Yoga day is being celebrated each year with various themes like Humanity, climate change, Home and family, Yoga for health yoga at home during covid period. 


Dr G Aghila, Director NIT Tiruchirappalli in her presidential address spoke about importance of yoga in day to day life. She said yoga should be performed daily and regularly and it can bring changes in life system. She pointed out importance of meditation especially for students and research scholars to concentrate on studies. She said that free yoga training is given in NIT Trichy and more and more students and faculty are showing interest in yoga. She pointed out that Prime Minister has urged students and public to perform yogasanas for better health. 


Dr N Kumaresan Dean Faculty Welfare NIT Trichy, Dr R Karvembu Dean Students Welfare NIT Trichy, Dr A Solomon Raja Shri S Arunkumar FPA Tiruchirapalli and more than 300 faculty and research students attended the Yoga day function. Dr Dalley Krishnan, Sports Officer and Yoga Nodal Officer NIT Trichy rendered vote of thanks.


Yoga trainers led by Yoga Master Smt Humaira performed various yogasanas for the benefit of students.  


Pamphlets and notices on Yoga made by CBC Chennai were distributed. Bharathalaya registered song and drama troupe from Tiruchirappalli performed awareness programme on Yoga and health. Plant saplings were planted in NIT Trichy campus by Director Dr G Aghila, FPO Trichy and Dean as part of Yoga day celebrations. Prepublicity programme on Yoga was organised at Panchayat Union Govt School Nagamangalam in coordination with Manikandam Panchayat Union on Thursday. FPO Trichy, FPA Trichy, Manikandam SBM Coordinator Shri Sasikumar, School Headmistress Smt Alamelu addressed students on benefits of yoga.
