The Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Unit Approval Committee convened its latest meeting in 19thJune 2024, focusing on the approval and review of various units within the SEZ. This meeting was a crucial step in ensuring the continued growth and development of the SEZ, aligning with the Government of India's vision for enhancing economic activity and investment in the region.

The committee approved a total of 19 proposals, amounting to ₹280.58 crore of investment with employment opportunities totaling 2652 jobs.
Details of Approved SEZ Units:
Bhagyam Agencies (New Unit): Located in MEPZ SEZ, Chennai, this unit is in the manufacturing sector with an approved investment of Rs.0.4 crore and will generate 25 employment opportunities.
Superops Technologies Private Limited (New Unit): Situated in Infopark Properties Limited, Chennai, this IT-ITES sector unit has an approved investment of Rs.7.84 crore, creating 500 jobs.
Acabes International Pvt. Ltd (New Unit): Also in Infopark Properties Limited, Chennai, this IT Service unit will see an investment of Rs.3.39 crore and 133 employment opportunities.
Paloma Turning Co Private Limited (New Unit): Located in ELCOT SEZ, Hosur, this service sector unit has a substantial investment of ₹195.75 crore and will create 1000 jobs.
Celcom Solutions Global Private Limited (New Unit): This unit in DLF Assets Limited, operating in the IT-ITES sector, has an approved investment of Rs.2.03 crore and will provide 357 jobs.
APM Medical Billerrs Private Limited (New Unit): Located in Gateway Office Parks Private Limited, this IT-ITES unit will see an investment of Rs.5.47 crore and generate 526 jobs.
WSD Electronic Technology India Private Limited (New Unit): This service sector unit in J Matadee FTWZ SEZ has an investment of Rs.64.45 crore and will create 100 jobs.
Saastha Warehousing Limited (Addl. Item): Located in NDR Infrastructure Private Limited, this service sector unit has an approved investment of Rs.1.25 crore, generating 11 jobs.
The Chairperson of the Unit Approval Committee, Shri Alex Paul Menon, Development Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the progress made and emphasized the committee's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for businesses within the SEZ. "We are dedicated to facilitating seamless operations for our units and ensuring they have all the necessary support to thrive. The approvals and initiatives discussed today are pivotal for the sustained growth of MEPZ SEZ," the Chairperson stated.
The UAC was held at NDR Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, a free trade ware house zone under MEPZ SEZ and Shri Alex Paul Menon, Development Commissioner, was inaugurating their expansion of new warehouse and congratulated their efforts to meet the growing demand of warehouse space within FTWZ.
