A mega training seminar on the "Possibilities of Aromatic Crops Cultivation in the Plains" will be organized by the Isha Cauvery Calling Movement for coconut and timber-producing farmers. The conference is scheduled to be held on September 1st at Dharapuram Srilakshmi Mahal in Tiruppur district. The Honorable Tamil Development Minister, Mr. Saminathan, will inaugurate the event.

The seminar will be held in the presence of Thiru. Pachaiyappan, Trustee of Aliyar Arivu Thirukovil, and will also be attended by the Kerala Electricity Minister, Thiru. Krishnan Kutty, the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidian Welfare Minister, Smt. Kayalvizhi Selvaraj, and Dr. Duraisamy.

Addressing a press conference regarding the event, Thiru. Thamizhmaaran, Field Coordinator of the Cauvery Calling Movement, explained, "Aromatic crops such as nutmeg, cinnamon, sarva sukanti (biryani leaf), cloves, and avocado, which are typically grown in the hills, can also be cultivated in the plains if the right environment is created. Farmers can significantly increase their income by cultivating these aromatic crops. This seminar has been organized to raise awareness among farmers by providing information about cultivation techniques, maintenance methods, and the experiences of pioneering successful farmers."

Scientists and senior officials from central government research institutes such as the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR), the Spices Board of India (SBI), and the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) will participate in the seminar. Additionally, farmers who have successfully cultivated avocado trees in the plains will share their experiences. The seminar will also highlight the benefits of multi-cropping, which allows more trees to be grown on less land. The diversity of crops can reduce pest and disease attacks on coconuts and improve soil fertility.

Various experts and pioneering farmers from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala will also participate in the seminar.

In 2019, Sadhguru launched the Cauvery Calling Movement with the intention of reviving the Cauvery River. Through this initiative, crores of trees are planned to be planted on agricultural lands in the Cauvery catchment areas. Planting more trees will improve soil quality and water retention capacity, which will not only increase groundwater levels but also keep the Cauvery and its tributaries alive.

Various training seminars are being conducted through this initiative to raise awareness among farmers about tree-based agriculture, with the aim of improving farmers' income while reviving the Cauvery River.

The Cauvery Calling Movement invites coconut, betel nut, and timber tree farmers to attend and benefit from this seminar. Those who wish to participate can register by contacting 94425 90081 or 94425 90079.
