BIS Hyderabad Branch Office Celebrates World Standards Day with Stakeholders' Conclave

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Hyderabad Branch Office organized a Stakeholders' Conclave as part of World Standards Day celebrations at Hotel Katriya, Somajiguda. Shri PV Srikanth, Director and Head, BIS Hyderabad Branch Office, delivered the inaugural speech, highlighting BIS' commitment to quality and excellence. The event aimed to promote awareness about Indian Standards, quality, and their significance in shaping a sustainable future. Shri Anudeep Durishetty, IAS, Collector, Hyderabad District, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. 


Chief Guest's Address: "Empowering a Sustainable Future through Standards"


Shri Anudeep Durishetty emphasized the vital role of BIS in shaping India's future. "Indian Standards will be the future, and every country will follow our standards," he stated. He applauded BIS' initiatives in promoting standards and quality awareness among children through Standards Clubs in educational institutions.


"Quality is not costly; it's our basic right," he stressed, urging stakeholders to prioritize quality. He encouraged consumers to buy ISI-marked products and hallmarked gold articles, utilizing the BIS Care App. Addressing manufacturers, Shri Anudeep Durishetty cautioned, "If you manufacture substandard products for temporary benefits, don't forget that our future will be in danger." He discussed India's economic potential and the role of standards in enhancing global importance.


Technical Deliberations


The conclave featured technical sessions by esteemed experts, including Shri Naveen Kumar from the Department of Industries, Smt T Sujatha, Joint Director, BIS, Shri T Rakesh, and Shri DGK Murthy, GM, Usha International. These sessions facilitated in-depth discussions on standards, quality, and sustainability.


Approximately 150 participants from manufacturing units, consumer organizations, government departments, and other stakeholders attended the event. The conclave facilitated fruitful discussions, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities, reinforcing BIS' commitment to promoting quality, standards, and sustainability.
